The faux leather looks way nicer in person than I expected for the price, and the separate velour sunglass compartment keeps my lenses from getting scratched. I've been using it daily for work and the side pockets actually fit a full water bottle, which is rare.
I fit my 15" laptop, a notebook, and a water bottle in the side pockets with room to spare, and the faux leather still looks sharp after a month of daily commuting. The ergonomic straps actually make a difference on longer walks.
